2022 SPIDEL Annual Conference: Justice Okoro JSC, Justice Abba-Aji JSC, PNICN Justice Kanyip, Others in attendance

The Hon. President of the National Industrial Court, Hon. Justice Benedict Kanyip, Ph.D., FNIALS joined other quintessential jurists, Senior Advocates, Diplomats, Captains of Industries, and Members of the Nigerian Bar at this year’s 2022 Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL) Conference tagged on “The Undermining of Judicial Authority in a Democracy”.


The event was held at the NBA House, situated at the nerve Centre of the Federal Capital Territory.




SPIDEL is the 3rd Section established by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) following approval for its establishment at her NEC meeting held on 30th November 2006 in Bauchi, aims at developing Legal frameworks that underpin economic reforms, addressing issues relating to public interest Law and advocating the fundamental link between law, its role, and application to development. 


The Conference is being held as the last conference by any NBA Section to herald the exit of the current leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association.


The SPIDEL Chairman, Dr. Monday Ubani eulogized the leadership acumen of the NBA’s President Olumide Akpata and described his administration as the most efficient and resourceful leadership in NBA'S recent history.


While assuring the participants that with the caliber of speakers assembled, the section is in for an intellectual feast, Dr. Ubani said the section has carefully selected an array of speakers to deal with current topics to address issues on governance and the justice sector.

 

Justice Inyang Okoro JSC delivered a keynote address followed by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Olumide Akpata.


The Goodwill Messages were delivered by Tony Ojukwu SAN, and Mr. Modibbo Tukur, Director Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit.
