The enablers of this lofty programme – the National Judicial Institute [NJI] and the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund [NSITF] are commended for organizing this workshop to facilitate cognate intellectual interactions amongst stakeholders for better understanding of the legal regime of social insurance for workers who sustained injuries or contracted industrial diseases in the course of employment in Nigeria. The biblical adage goes: “My people perish for lack of knowledge[1].” To avoid retardation and atrophy, people and institutions must continue to seek knowledge in fora like this. That is the only way for sustainable development. I equally commend the Hon. President of the National Industrial Court [HPNIC] for nominating me to write and present this paper. I hope my humble efforts shall justify the confidence reposed in me. I also commend all the participants for attending this workshop for robust interactions on the subject.
