Encomiums As Obisesan, Ogunyemi Bow Out After 35 Years Meritorious Service To Fatherland

Retirement is a major life milestone. It marks the start of another chapter in an employee’s life. Retirement marks the end of a career or the start of a new one. Retirement is a life event that changes every day that the retiree experiences.

 

The retirement of a valued co-worker sparks mixed emotions. On one hand, one is happy and excited about co-worker’s next chapter. On the other, one is sad and just a bit melancholy at the prospect of losing daily time and interaction with valued colleague.

 

In all, the atmosphere was in celebration mood on Thursday 7th March 2019 as NICN Law Lords, Staff and well wishers gathered to celebrate two of their own, Mr. Oladapo Akinbiyi Obisesan and Mrs Comfort Ogunyemi at the Ibadan division who retired after contributing 35 years service to fatherland.

“Verily, it was a moment to show appreciation for years well spent in service of fatherland.” Says HOD, Mr Abana Girei Esq.

 

Mr Oladapo Akinbiyi Obisesan joined the service of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in 2006 after spending 21 years at the Lagos State Judiciary.

 

He started his career at NICN Lagos State, 31 Luggard Avenue, Ikoyi and moved to Abuja upon the transfer of the court headquarters from Lagos state in 2010 where he served as the Head of Protocol and Corporate Relations, Headquarters, Abuja before his transfer to Ibadan division in 2018.

 

During his service in Lagos state judiciary, he worked as a personal assistant to the retired chief judges of Lagos state, from the reign of Hon. Justice Ligali Ayorinde till the reign of Hon. Justice Fatai Afolabi Adeyinka. (Seven Chief Judges)

Obisesan hails from Ibadan North East Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo State, South West Nigeria.

 

While, Mrs Comfort Ogunyemi hails from Ife, Osun State, joined the service of the court as a typist in 1984 when the court was operating as a mere tribunal at Ojuolobun, Lagos State. She attended many professionals training home and abroad which qualified her as a secretary.

 

In 2010, she was transferred to Calabar, while there; she performed exceedingly well which prompted her redeployment to Ibadan division in the year 2013 where she finally retired after putting 35 years service to fatherland.

The Presiding Judge, Ibadan Judicial division; Hon. Justice J. D. Peters and Hon. Justice O. A. Ogunbowale while presenting gifts to the retirees expressed optimum praise to God for retirees life in service, implores them to judicious utilize their retirement plan for their well being and pray for God’s guidance and long life to eat the fruit of their labour.

 

“May this next chapter of your life be everything you want it to be.” Justice Dele Peters prayed.

 

Also, in the same vein, the Chief Registrar, Mr Olurotimi Daudu in his congratulatory message “In the many years you have been with us, you have made an undeniable difference. Congratulations on your retirement—it won’t be the same here without you!

 

“Thanks for all the great memories. Your contributions to the court will never be forgotten.” Chief Registrar Eulogised.

 

The retiree, Mr Oladapo Obisesan in his valendictory message lauded the efforts of the Hon. President, Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo, OFR for visionary ideas that brought the court from zero to a living end, prayed to Almighty God to grant him long life, happiness and prosperity to eat the fruit of his labour. He also praised the Judges of the court for delivering beyond expectation and for showing to the world that Judiciary will forever remains the hope of man as far as Industrial Court is concerned.

 

“I am so proud today, to tell my children that I retired from National Industrial Court of Nigeria, unarguably the most efficient court in Nigeria and beyond without any neither blemish record nor query.” Obisesan says

 

He admonished staff to continue to work in line with the dictates of the norms and values of the Judiciary; they should also avoid eye service that God will surely reward them.
