Synopsis of an avatar Jurist, Hon. Justice Oluwakayode Arowosegbe [Read!]

His Lordship, Hon. Justice Oluwakayode Ojo AROWOSEGBE hails from Arigidi-Akoko, Akoko North-West Local government area of Ondo State, South-West Nigeria.


He had his Primary Education at the Saint Paul’s Anglican Primary School, Arigidi-Akoko, and Secondary Education at Methodist High School, Owo and Akoko Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi-Akoko.


With a clear understanding that education plays a pivotal role in one’s future, His Lordship had BA (Hons) in English Studies from the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti [now Ekiti State University] in 1990.


However, in total fulfilment of his utmost passion to read Law, at a time when many of his contemporaries were afraid to start afresh, he enrolled for Law at the renowned Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife and obtained Bachelor of Laws LLB.


To be able to practice as a lawyer, he attended Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus and was successfully called to the Nigerian Bar in 1996 as Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.


In furtherance of his quest to be fully acquainted in Law, his Lordship bagged Masters of Law at the same University of Ile Ife in 2008.


Quintessentially, His Lordship began his legal career with the Ondo State Ministry of Justice in 1998 as Senior Legal Officer and rose to the post of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions before transferring service to the National Industrial Court in 2011 and rose to the rank of Deputy Chief Registrar and was the Head of the Abuja Judicial Division between 2013 to 2017, doubled as Research Assistant to the then Hon. President of the Court, Justice Adejumo (Rtd) until his elevation to the Bench as a Judge of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in 2017.


Prior to My Lord appointment to the bench, he has equally been an examiner on law and interviewer to the Federal Judicial Service Commission, and also had stints as a part-time lecturer of Law in several institutions of higher learning. 


His Lordship is a prolific legal researcher and writer, with many publications in reputable local and international journals, experienced trial Counsel, Court Administrator, ADR practitioner and Chartered Mediator and Conciliator.


Hon. Justice Olukayode Arowosegbe as an avatar jurist has delivered many laudable Judgments and rulings tailored on the Jurisdiction of the Court.


My Lord is presently the presiding Judge, Enugu Judicial division of the Court.
